Solution

Spermatogenesis:

  1. The development of sperm cells from immature germ cells in males is called Spermatogenesis.
  2. This process takes place in seminiferous tubules inside male testes.
  3. During the process of spermatogenesis, a diploid male germ cell known as Spermatogonium for a diploid primary spermatocyte by increasing its size.
  4. This spermatocyte undergoes meiotic division (Meiosis I) which is called reductional division also.
  5. It forms two equal haploid secondary spermatocytes.
  6. Each one of the secondary spermatocytes undergoes Meiotic Division II, to form two equal haploid spermatids.
  7. So, a diploid spermatogonium produces four haploid spermatids.
  8. Spermatids are produced after meiosis II in the secondary spermatocytes.
  9. They do not undergo further division and transform into the sperms or spermatozoa by the process called spermiogenesis.
  10. Spermatozoa are released from the seminiferous epithelium into the lumen of the tubule is called spermiation.
