A power transmission line feeds input power at 2300 V to a stepdowntransformer with its primary windings having 4000 turns. Whatshould be the number of turns in the secondary in order to get outputpower at 230 V?

Given: The input voltage of transformer is 2300V, the numbers of turns in primary coil are 4000, the output voltage of the transformer is 230V.

The turns ratio of a transformer is given as,

N 1 N 2 = V 1 V 2

Where, the input voltage of transformer is V 1 , the output voltage is V 2 , the numbers of turns in primary coil are N 1 and the numbers of turns in secondary coil are N 2 .

By substituting the given values in the above equation, we get

4000 N 2 = 2300 230 N 2 =400

Thus, the numbers of turns in the secondary coil are 400.
