Bandipur (Karnataka) National Park
Bandipur National Park, situated in the city of Mysore (Karnataka) is a part of the Nilgiri biosphere reserve and is famous for housing the Bengal tiger.
In order to ensure the viable populations of the tiger in its natural habitat and to protect it from extinction, Project tiger was launched in \(1973\). These tiger reserves were visualised as breeding grounds for the tigers, from where the surplus tigers could migrate to adjacent forests.
