Boojho dipped a bar magnet in a heap of iron filings and pulled it out. He found that iron filings got stuck to the magnet as shown.
(i) Which regions of the magnet have more iron filings sticking to it?
(ii) What are these regions called?
(i) From the figure, it is clear that the ends of the magnet have more iron fillings attached to it. This is because the strength of a magnet lies more at the ends of the magnet.
(ii) The end regions of a magnetic are called poles. There are two poles in a magnet- North pole and South pole.
