The correct option is B Only statement 1 is correct.

Coefficient of linear expansion of copper α=1.7×105 C1.
Coefficient of superficial expansion of copper β=2×1.7×105 C1=3.4×105 C1.
Therefore statement 1 is correct. When a body is heated, only its length and breadth will increase in a superficial expansion. In volumetric expansion, when the body is heated it expands in all directions i.e. its length, breadth and height increases. Therefore statement 2 is incorrect.
