Solution

Step 1: defining strong and weak electrolytes

  • Strong electrolytes are a solution or a solute that completely dissociates when get dissolved in a solution.
  • Weak electrolytes are a solution or a solute which do not completely dissociate when get dissolved in a solution.

Step 2: classifying the electrolytes as strong or weak electrolytes

  1. Sodium hydroxide solution: It gets completely dissociates when get dissolved in a solution, so it is a strong electrolyte.
  2. Potassium nitrate solution: It gets completely dissociates when get dissolved in a solution, so it is a strong electrolyte.
  3. Dilute sulphuric acid: It gets completely dissociates when get dissolved in a solution, so it is a strong electrolyte.
  4. Acetic acid: It is a weak electrolyte as it does not get dissolved in a solution.
  5. Pure sulphuric acid: It is a weak electrolyte as it does not get dissolved in a solution.
  6. Pure water: It is a weak electrolyte as it does not get dissolved in a solution.
  7. Ammonia solution: It is a weak electrolyte as it does not get dissolved in a solution.

Strong electrolytes are sodium hydroxide solution, potassium nitrate solution, dilute sulphuric acid.

Weak electrolytes are acetic acid, pure sulphuric acid, pure water, ammonia solution.
