Solution

Shadow:

A shadow would be a dark form cast on a surface by something that lies between lighting and the surface and obstructs the path of the light.

Properties of shadow:

  1. Shadows do not form across all objects. Shadows are only cast by opaque objects.
  2. Shadows will appear in the contrary direction of the beam of light.
  3. The features of an item cannot be determined from its shadow.
  4. Whatever the hue of the light beams, the shadow will constantly be darker.

Explanation:

  1. A shadow is formed when light from a light source is obstructed by some object.
  2. When a shadow is formed it happens due to the absorption of all light by an object from a light emitting source.
  3. As a result, a shadow is produced which is due to absorption or absence of light, hence black in color.
  4. The color of the shadow of an object does not depend on its color. It is always black irrespective of any colored object.

Therefore, the color of the shadow of an object does not depend on the color of the object.
