f1 generation(First filial generation)
- It is 1st filial generation obtained by crossing two different parents.
- The parents are quite distinct: one is homozygous dominant for both traits, and the other is homozygous recessive for both traits.
- All such offspring show dominant characteristics for both traits.
- It is quite important for hybridization as it yields the best characteristics from both the parents.
- Sometimes outbreeding depression is seen in the F1 generation, i.e. reduced fitness in the offspring due to a cross between 2 distant parents.
