Fibre crops are grown for their fibre. Fibre crops are used to make paper, rope, cloth. Examples of fibre crops are cotton, jute, flax, sun hemp. Jute grows well on well-drained fertile soils in the floodplains where soils are renewed every year. Cotton cultivation requires high moisture retention.Cotton cultivation is closely related to deep black soils (regur) of the Deccan and the Malwa Plateaus and those of Gujarat.
