Chromosomes are the condensed forms of DNA that carry hereditary information in the form of a genetic code.
It occurs in the form of thin long threads in a non-dividing cell, but in a dividing cell, it occurs as a thick condensed structure.
Each chromosome has two sister chromatids that are bound to each other at a specific region called primary constriction or centromere.
In certain chromosomes, there are other areas of constriction called secondary constriction.
A satellite is a short chromosomal segment that is separated from the main chromosome through a comparatively elongated secondary constriction.
A chromosome along with a satellite is known as SAT-chromosome.
