Population control may use one or more of the following practices although there are other methods as well:

  1. contraception
  2. abstinence
  3. medical abortion
  4. emigration
  5. decreasing immigration
  6. sterilization
  7. euthanasia

Contraception or birth control

  1. Birth control is an effective way to prevent accidental fertilization while having sex with a partner of the opposite sex.
  2. Birth control is an umbrella term for several techniques and methods used to prevent fertilization or interrupt pregnancy at various stages.


Abstinence

  1. Sexual abstinence is the practice of refraining from some or all aspects of sexual activity for medical, psychological, legal, social, or religious reasons.

Medical abortion or simply known as abortion

  1. Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion of a fetus or embryo from the uterus, resulting in or caused by its death.
  2. Abortion is an effective tool to terminate unwanted pregnancies/fetuses.

Emigration

  1. Emigration is the act of leaving one's native country or region to settle in another.
  2. It is the same as immigration but from the perspective of the country of origin.
  3. Human movement before the establishment of political boundaries or within one state is termed migration.


Decreasing immigration

Immigration reduction refers to a move that advocates a reduction in the amount of immigration allowed into the country.

Sterilization

Sterilization is a surgical technique leaving a male or female unable to reproduce. It is a method of birth control.

Euthanasia

Euthanasia refers to the practice of intentionally ending a life in order to relieve pain and suffering.
