Question

Difference between vi graph and iv graph

Open in App
Solution

opeSuppose that you do not know which quantity is to be plotted along X-axis and which along Y-axis. Remember a rule of thumb; Plot INDEPENDENT quantities along X-axis while plot DEPENDENT quantities along Y=axis. Thus if you need plotting a graph between distance covered by a car VS time, here time is taken along X-axis while the distance covered by car along Y=axis. Reason? Time is independent of the distance, will flow continuously whether the car is in motion or not but distance would depend upon the time and hence is dependent quantity.

slope=V/I=R slope=I/V=1/R
