Solution

Deforestation:

Deforestation refers to the removal of trees from the forest areas in large scale to facilitate human activities which leads to loss of biodiversity.

Example: Destroying a forest for converting it into an agricultural area. It causes many effect on environment as well as to humans.

The effects of deforestation in various types of environments are listed below.

Effect of deforestation on Wild animals:

  1. The ecological balance gets destroyed which cause an adverse effect on the food chain and food web.
  2. The natural habitats of the wild animals gets destroyed due to deforestation and they tend to move to other habitats or left to die without a proper shelter.
  3. Many animal species are in the range of extinction as they loss their natural habitat.

Effects of deforestation on environment:

  1. The loss of trees changes the quality of soil which leads to soil erosion, fewer crop production and flooding.
  2. The biological cycles (Bio- geo chemical cycles) are altered because of deforestation.
  3. The amount of carbon di oxide increases in the earth which leads to global warming.

Effects of deforestation to the rural areas:

  1. As a result of the loss of habitats, the animals are entered into the villages which affects the life of rural people.
  2. The rural people are depend on forest for food, fuel and wood. Deforestation reduces their source of food.

Effects of deforestation on the cities:

  1. The ecological imbalance causes climate change and global warming which will affect all the human beings.
  2. When the forests are replaced by agriculture lands, it reduces the source of wood for the next generation.
  3. Although the deforestation does not directly affect the cities, the climate change will lead to drought and flood.

Effects of deforestation on Earth:

  1. The climate of earth changes due to global warming and the seasonal variations takes place throughout the year because of changing climate.
  2. The soil loses its fertility and are converted into deserts.
  3. Deforestation increases the chances of natural disasters like flood and drought.

Effects of deforestation to the next generation:

  1. As the wild animals lost their natural habitats, many endemic plants are now endangered.
  2. The world is losing its beautiful floristic diversity due to the deforestation which wont be available for the next generation.
