Question

Draw the graph of the following linear equations in two variables: 2x+y=3

Open in App
Solution

Solution:

To draw the graph 2x+y=3, we have to find the values which x and y can have, satisfying the equation.

We can check that when, x=0.y=3,

When,

x=02x+y=3,becomes(2×0)+y=30+y=3thereforey=3

When,

x=12x+y=3,becomes(2×1)+y=32+y=3y=3-2y=1

therefore,y=3,y=1 are solutions of the given equation. So, we can use the following table to draw the graph:

xy
03
11

Hence, the points to be plotted are (0,3)&(1,1).
