Energy level diagram for electronic transitions:
The energy level diagram is the diagrammatic representation of various energy states or quantized states of the electron.
When an electron absorbs or emits energy, it can only move to another energy level which is allowed for a particular atom.
These energy levels follow another mechanics called quantum mechanics or wave theory.
For example, we can draw the energy level diagram for the hydrogen atom.
An electron can stay at any one of the allowed levels, When an electron absorbs energy it moves higher energy level. When an electron emits energy it moves to a lower energy level.
