Solution

LAW OF MULTIPLE PROPORTIONS

Statement: When two elements combine with each other to form more than one compound then the weight of one element that combines with fixed weight of other element is a simple whole number ratio.

E.g.
Two elements Nitrogen and Oxygen combines to form more than one compound. Those compounds are NO, N₂O, NO₂, N₂O₃
If weight of O is fixed then ratio of N in above compounds in given order is:
1 : 2 : 1/2 : 2/3
This ratio can be simplified to
6 : 12 : 3 : 4
It is a whole number ratio. This is what law of multiple proportions sates.
