Explain the meaning of a resultant force.
The Resultant force is defined as the total effective force acting on a body along the direction of motion.
In the 1st case, the resultant force is 60 N+30 N=90 N as both the forces i.e 60 N and 30 N are in the same direction
in the 2nd case, the resultant force is 20 N i.e 30 N-10 N as the forces are in opposite directions to each other.
The resultant force is zero for the body which is at rest or moving with the same velocity.
