4. Since velocity is considered to be a vector, momentum is considered a vector as well.
5. This means momentum has a significant magnitude and direction—the momentum direction indicated by a vector or an arrow.
6. For example, when a ball with a given mass is traveling at a particular speed, it possesses momentum. The moment the ball hits a wall, it comes to rest and therefore transfers its momentum to the wall.
7. Therefore, momentum is always conserved.
