Solution

The correct option is B Recombinant DNA technology
Genetically modified crops are the crops that contain genes of other plants or organisms to enhance various desirable characteristics in them such as improved nutritional status, increased yield, disease resistance etc.

Recombinant DNA technology allows the modifications in the DNA of the plant due to the introduction of a segment of foreign DNA molecule. This helps to develop genetically modified plants with desired traits.

Somatic hybridisation is the process of fusing the protoplasm of two somatic cells to form a hybrid plant cell. It doesn't result in the formation of genetically modified organisms.

Cross breeding is the mating of plants of different breeds not having common ancestors. It results in the formation of hybrid plants. It doesn't lead to production of genetically modified plants.

Micropropagation is the production of new plants from plant tissues supplied with growth-promoting agents maintained under aseptic conditions. This is a method to conduct clonal propagation of plants. This does not modify DNA. Thus, it cannot be used for producing genetically modified plants.

Hence the correct option is
a. Recombinant DNA technology
