How Are Lysosomes Related to Golgi?

Open in App
Solution

Lysosomes:

  1. Another name for lysosomes is the suicidal bags of the cell.
  2. Lysosomes are sphere-shaped sacs containing hydrolytic enzymes that may break down a wide range of biomolecules.
  3. Lysosomes serve as the cell's digestive system.
  4. It degrades the material taken in from outside the cell as well as digests components within the cell.

Golgi:

  1. Another name for Golgi is Golgi complex or Golgi Body.
  2. Golgi is actually an organelle that is found in almost all the eukaryotic cells.
  3. It is a component of the cytoplasmic endomembrane system.
  4. It bundles proteins into membrane-bound vesicles inside the cell before delivering them to their destination.

Relation Between Lysosomes and Golgi:

  1. Lysosomal enzymes are packaged inside a vesicle in the Golgi bodies, which buds off from the trans face.
  2. Lysosomes are formed by the fusion of these vesicles and also the vesicle that pinches off from the plasma membrane by endocytosis.
