The networks of hollow tubes like pipes, which carry blood to and from all parts of the body, are called blood vessels. These vessels carry blood in both directions, i.e. one from the heart to all other parts and another from all body parts to the heart.
Vascular diseases is the term given to a group of conditions that affects the network of blood vessels.
Since there are many conditions, symptoms may vary.
For instance, small vessel disease is a condition where the walls of the small arteries in the heart are damaged.
Characteristic symptoms include chest pain and shortness of breath.
On the other hand, deep vein thrombosis often causes no noticeable symptoms in most cases.
In cases where symptoms do exist, the patient experiences swelling in one or both legs, discolored skin on the legs, warm skin, etc.
