How do you define a vector?

Open in App
Solution

Definition of vector :

A vector is defined as an object, in mathematics, that has both magnitude and direction. The magnitude of the vector represents the size. Two vectors are said to be equal if their magnitude and direction are the same.

Components of the vector :

The length of the segment of the directed line is called the magnitude of the vector and the angle at which the vector is inclined shows the direction of the vector. The starting point of a vector is called “Tail” and the ending point (having an arrow) is called "Head".

Examples of vector quantities: velocity, acceleration, force, etc. All these quantities have directions and magnitudes both.
