Solution

The correct option is C 3 years
When gold and diamond mines were discovered in 1886 in Transvaal which were Boer lands, the British wanted more control over that area and sent miners to settle there. These miners were hated by the Boers. In 1890, Cecil Rhodes, the Prime Minister of Cape Colony, encouraged British expansion to the north of the Transvaal. The move incited the Boers more. The British miners, denied of their political rights, waged war on the Boers. This war was called the Boer War and lasted three years from 1899-1902.

Eventually, the English defeated the Boers and took all their territories.
