Question

How many edges are there in a cuboid

Open in App
Solution

Edges in a cuboid

  1. A cuboid is a three-dimensional shape that has varying length, breadth, and height.
  2. It is basically a rectangle with height.
  3. An edge is a line segment connecting two vertices and a side of one of the faces of the cuboid.
  4. A vertex is a point defining the corner of a polygon.
  5. A face is a flat surface of a 3D polygon.
  6. The relationship between vertices, faces and edges is given by Euler's formula,
    V-E+F=2
Where V is the number of vertices, E is the number of edges and F is the number of faces.
  7. A cuboid has 8 vertices and 6 faces.

8-E+6=2E=12

Thus a cuboid has 12 edges. Hence a cuboid has 12 edges.
