How to draw root 23 on the number line ?

Open in App
Solution

First draw a line having 23 cm name it as AB and extend one unit ( one unit = one cm )

name that BC now taking a compass and taking A as the centre draw a measure with u think is more than the mid point of AC ( more than the mid point means some small cms away the mid point can be assumed )

then cut an arc up and down same way taking C as center cut the arc which u drew from A draw a line connecting the arcsthe line will pass through the mid point mark it as D. now taking D as centre draw a semi-circle from A to C or C to A. from the point B draw a line straight upwards ( draw , use potractor or construction ) draw the line from B to up till it touches the semicircle now extend how much u want from the point C to right in the form of ray. putting the compass point on B and taking the length of how much it took for that line to touch the semi-circle cut a small line on the uextended line that is ( the line continuing from B to right name that cut as E . now thats √23
