Question

How to find the derivative of cosec2x?

Open in App
Solution

Calculation of derivative:

Formula: ddx(cosec(x))=-cosec(x)cot(x)

Chain rule: ddx[f(x)]2=2f(x)ddxf(x)

That is

ddx(cosec2x)=2cosec(x)ddx(cosec(x))[Chainrule]ddx(cosec2x)=2cosec(x)(-cosec(x)cot(x))[Aboveformula]ddx(cosec2x)=-2cosec2(x)cot(x)

Therefore, the derivative of cosec2x=-2cosec2(x)cot(x).
