1. As chromosomes are formed and are in the condensed stage, it is Leptotene.
2. As the pairing of opposite chromosomes appear, it is Zygotene.
3. As bivalents are formed and crossing over is seen, it is Pachytene.
4. As bivalents divide and remain attached at Chiasmata, it is Diplotene and
5. As bivalents are separate and has a part of Chiasma, it is Diakinesis.
