If α is a root of 4x2+2x−1=0 then root is:
4α3−3α
α is a root ⇒4α2+2α−1=0
Let the other root be β.
Then the sum of roots will be α+β=−12
⇒β=−12−α . . . (1)
Now, 4α2+2α−1=0
⇒4α2=1−2α
⇒4α3=α(1−2α)
⇒4α3=α−2α2
⇒4α3=2α−12
Subtracting 3α from both sides.
⇒4α3−3α=−α−12=β
Hence, 4α3−3α is other root.
