Solution

Ans. C)

f ( x + 1/x ) = x 2 + 1/x2 = ( x + 1/x )2 − 2 x *1/x = ( x + 1/x )2 − 2

Let x + 1/x = z. Then we get,

f (z) = z2 − 2

Hence putting 3/2 on the place of z we get

f (3/2) = (3/2)2 − 2

f (3/2) = 9/4 − 2 = 1/4 Ans.
