Camel:

  1. Camel is known as the ship of the desert.

Adaptations in camel:

  1. The long legs of the camels keep their body away from the hot sand and help to keep cool.
  2. They can store excess food in their hump for future use.
  3. They have long eyelashes which protect their eyes from sand.
  4. They can keep their nostrils closed for avoiding dust.
  5. They have a long neck so that they can easily reach the ground for grazing.
  6. The long fur coat of the skin reduces the loss of water from the body.
  7. They do not sweat .They excrete very little urine.
  8. Their padded feet are flat and wide so that they can walk very easily in the loose and dry sand.
