Question

Is negative delta H exothermic?

Open in App
Solution

  1. There are two types of chemical reactions on the basis of heat absorbed or heat released. One is an exothermic reaction and the second one is endothermic.
  2. If a reaction absorbs heat, it is an endothermic reaction, and a symbol represents the heat gain(+H).
  3. If a reaction releases heat, it is an exothermic reaction, and a symbol that represents heat loss is negative delta H(-H).

Hence, negative delta H represents exothermic.
