Solution

Post-fertilisation events

Changes observed in an angiosperm flower subsequent to pollination and fertilisation are as follows:-

* The petals, sepals, stamen and style are shed. Sometimes, the sepals remain, for example in pineapple.

*The synergids and antipodal cells degenerate.

*Diploid zygote develops into the embryo.

* The central cell becomes the endosperm, which provides nutrition to the growing embryo.

*The ovules develop into seeds.

*Outer and inner integuments of the ovule become the seed coat (testa and tegmen respectively).

* The ovary develops into a fruit and the ovary wall becomes a fruit wall.
