Meaning of Dyad of cells and chiasmata in meiosis

When a cell is ready to divide by mitosis, each chromosome is duplicated. The duplicated chromosomes are known as dyads. Chiasmata is the point of contact, the physical link, between two (non-sister) chromatids belonging to homologous chromosomes. Chiasmata promote monopolar attachment of sister chromatids and their co-segregation toward the proper pole during meiosis
