Solution

Instructions:
  • Write about:
    • What is Subsidiary Alliance?
    • Terms of Subsidiary Alliance
  • Write about the impact of the Alliance on the Indian States.
  • Write about the advantages of the Subsidiary Alliance to the British.
Solution:
The Subsidiary Alliance was established by the British Governor General, Lord Wellesley, in order to dominate and grow in Indian politics.

The Subsidiary Alliance's strategy caused the Indian states to suffer since they lost their independence and sovereign authority. They weakened their foreign relations, which diminished their ability to unite against the British. The monarchs were lackadaisical and ignored their administrative and military responsibilities after coming under the alliance. They undermined the economy and levied high taxes on their subjects.
