The correct option is C TA=TB

In the diagram, C is the centre of mass of given binary star system.

Since, C is the centre of mass, so

mArA=mBrB .....(1)

Two forces, gravitational force and centripetal force are acting on each star, and these forces are responsible for rotation of the star.

Fgrav=Fcent

For stars A & B:

GmAmB(rA+rB)2=mBv2BrB=mAv2ArA

Putting the value of mB from eq. (1),

mArArBv2BrB=mAv2ArA

vBrB=vArA .........(2)

Now time periods of stars,

TATB=(2πrA/vA)(2πrB/vB)=1 [from eq.(2)]

TA=TB

Hence, option (B) is correct.
