We have to find the factors of 8.
Factors of 8 = 1, 2, 4, 8.
Alex can put them in groups of 1, 2, 4, 8 without any ball being left.
Arrangment 1 : 8 groups of 1 ball each
1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 +1+1= 8
Arrangement 2 : 4 groups of 2 balls each
2 + 2 + 2 +2 = 8
Arrangement 3 : 2 groups of 4 balls each
4 + 4 = 8
