Man made cereal:
Cereals are edible seeds of certain grasses (Poaceae). Eg. wheat, rice,rye, barley. Triticale is a man made cereal grain.
Development of Triticale:
Triticale was developed by the process of artificial hybridization between wheat plant (Triticum aestivum) and rye plant (Secale cereale). It has desirable characteristics of high protein content, good yield, growth vigor and cold tolerance.
Uses of Triticale:
Triticale has large and broad leaves that are used for grazing by livestock. Triticale flour is used in the baking industry. It is also used in ethanol production.
