Solution

●The five types of tropism are phototropism, geotropism, chemotropism, hydrotropism, and thigmotropism which responds to the stimulus of light, gravity, chemical, water, and touch respectively.
  • The tropic movements of plants are helpful in the following ways:

-Phototropism helps the stem to grow towards sunlight helping the plant to perform photosynthesis.

-Geotropism helps the plant roots to grow deep into the soil thus absorbing water and minerals and fixing the plant properly in the soil.

-Chemotropism helps the pollen tube to grow towards the ovary thus helping in fertilization of gametes for fruit production.

-Hydrotropism helps the plant roots to absorb water and dissolved minerals from the soil.

-Thigmotropism helps the plant to grow firmly along the support for better growth and development.
