$0.5 (5 y - 7) - 2 (9 y - 11) = 0.25 (8 y - 13) - \frac{53}{4}$

$\frac{(5 y - 7)}{2} - 2 (9 y - 11) = \frac{(8 y - 66)}{4}$

$10 y - 14 - 72 y + 88 = 8 y - 66$

$- 62 y + 74 = 8 y - 66$

$- 70 y = - 140$

$y = 2$
