$=\frac{12\pm \sqrt{144-400}}{8}$

$x=\frac{12\pm 16i}{8}$ $[i=\sqrt{-1}]$

$x=\frac{12+16i}{8}$ and $x=\frac{12-16i}{8}$

$x=\frac{3+4i}{2}$ and $x=\frac{-i}{2}$

As $D=b^2-4ac<0$

So, the roots are not real

they are complex roots
