$8 x + 5 y = 9 ⟶ (1) 2 x + 10 y = 7 ⟶ (2) f r o m (1) 8 x + 5 y = 9 \Rightarrow y = \frac{9 - 8 x}{5}$
putting the value of y in equation $(2)$
$2 x + 10 (\frac{9 - 8 x}{5}) = 7 \Rightarrow x = \frac{11}{14} a n d y = \frac{19}{35}$
