x = 4; y = 0.5 15 x +10y = 65 ...... (1) 11x + 2y = 45 ........ (2) (1) × 11 - (2) × 15= (165x+11y) - (165x+30y) = 715-675 ⇒ 80y = 40 ⇒ y = 0.5 Substituting value of y in either of the equations we get x = 4
