Gaseous solutions are those in which the solvent is present in a gaseous form.
Gaseous solutions are classified into three categories based on the solute and solvent phases, Gas – Gas Solution, Liquid – Gas Solution, Solid – Gas Solution
Gas-solid solutions are solutions that have a solid solvent and a gaseous solute.
Examples of gas in solid solution:
Platinum with hydrogen gas: At STP, hydrogen is a gas, while platinum is a solid.
As a result, hydrogen gas adsorbed on platinum's surface is an example of a gas in solid solution.
Carbon dioxide solid in a fire extinguisher: A carbon dioxide fire extinguisher is loaded with gaseous carbon dioxide.
But the increased pressure inside the canister causes this to convert into solid carbon dioxide, which is then expelled as a white powder when used to extinguish a fire.
