Solution

The correct option is C Spermatogonia - spermatocytes - spermatids - spermatozoa
Spermatogenesis is the process of the production of sperms in males. It takes place inside the seminiferous tubules present in the testes. In this process,

i) The spermatogonia present on the inside wall of seminiferous tubules multiply by mitotic division and increase in number

ii) Each spermatogonium is diploid and contains 46 chromosomes

iii) Some of the spermatogonia which periodically undergo meiosis are called primary spermatocytes

iv) A primary spermatocyte undergoes first meiotic division leading to the formation of two equal, haploid cells called secondary spermatocytes, which have only 23 chromosomes each

v) The secondary spermatocytes undergo the second meiotic division to produce four equal, haploid spermatids

vi) The spermatids are transformed into spermatozoa (sperms) by the process called spermiogenesis

Therefore, the correct sequence of spermatogenic stages leading to the formation of sperms in a mature human testis is:
Spermatogonia - primary spermatocytes - secondary spermatocytes - spermatids - spermatozoa
