The correct option is A A - electrodes, B - NH3 + H2 + H2O + CH4, C -cold water, D - vacuum, E - U trap
The famous Miller and Urey experiment fundamentally established that the earth's primitive environment was capable of producing the building blocks of life from inorganic materials . In this classical experiment the apparatus consisted of two tungsten electrode (for current supply) and they used Methane, hydrogen , ammonia gases in a moist environment above the water containing flask and vaccum was created. To simulate primitive lightning discharges, Millers supplied the system with electric current. The water was heated and then cooled and the organic compounds were collected in U trap. They thus proved that the primitive environment favoured chemical reactions which resulted in the synthesis of organic compounds. Thus, the correct answer is option A.
