The elevator shown in figure is descending with an acceleration of $2m/s^2$. The mass of the block A is 0.5 kg. What force is exerted by the block a on the block B ?

From the free bosy diagram

$R=0.5\times 2-W=0$

$\Rightarrow R=W-0.5\times 2$

= $0.5\times 10-0.5\times 2$

= 0.5(10-2) = 4 N

So , the force exerted by the block A on the block B is 4N.
