The Tyndall effect is the scattering of light as a light beam passes through a colloid. The individual suspension particles scatter and reflect light, making the beam visible.
From the figure given above, solution (a) is a true solution and (b) is a colloidal solution. When a beam of light is passed through both the solutions, solution (a) does not scatter the beam of light whereas solution (b) scatters the beam of light. The path of light becomes visible in solution (b).
