After fertilisation, the ovary develops into fruit and the ovule develops into seed. The wall of the fruit is called pericarp which is differentiated into 3 layers- epicarp (skin), mesocarp (tissue between epicarp and endocarp) and endocarp (innermost layer of pericarp surrounding the seed).
The outer seed coat is called the testa and the inner coat is called the tegmen.
