Convergent evolution

The type of evolution where organisms, present in the same environment, have evolved causing their structurally different body parts to have the same type of functions is called convergent evolution.

Adaptive strategies

Agave and Cactus both are present in the desert area.
The leaves of Cactus are modified into spines whereas in Agave the margins of the leaves are modified into spines.
Water storage occurs in the stem of the cactus whereas in Agave the leaves are succulent and stores water.
