Solution

Centre of Mass

  1. The Center of Mass of an object is a location that is specified in relation to that object or system of objects.
  2. The Center of Mass of a system is the average location of all pieces that are weighted in accordance with their masses.

The formula for the Centre of Mass
The Center of Mass of that system is obtained by adding the weighted position vectors, each of which points in the direction of the Center of Mass of each object. For each component along each axis, the Center of Mass is determined independently.

For x-axis : xcom=m1x1+m2x2+m3x3+...m1+m2+m3+...

For y-axis: ycom=m1y1+m2y2+m3y3+...m1+m2+m3

Factors affecting the Centre of Mass

  1. The position of mass from the axis.
  2. The mass of the rigid body.
  3. The axis of the system.
  4. The distribution of mass.
